Bodensee & Danube by boat to Budapest 2022: 1 - Ready for first trip since 2019 Saturday, May 28, 2022
After a very long drought - our last trip was in 2019 - we will be on the road again. Marilynn and I have suffered from severe withdrawal symptoms because of lack of travel. As some of you know it was discovered I had CLL, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, in 2019. We were told there was no cure for it, and I'd likely not see the end of the year. As I still felt fine, instead of the recommended chemotherapy we went travelling until October when it was no longer possible. Marilynn & I had a big wedding on Nov 11 to reconfirm our marriage, but I had to go to bed immediately after the ceremony, missing a great feast and party that went on until 3 AM. The health care doctor put me on 8 sessions of immunotherapy, which kept me going until February when a retired doctor friend in Canada sent the results of tests on ibrutinib, a targeted therapy drug for CLL. Within 6 weeks I was feeling a lot better, continued to improve and now we'll be back on the road again. We leave Sunday morning, May 29, for Munich Germany via Toronto Canada. We will rent a car and drive to Bodensee (Lake Constance) on the German/Swiss border. We were originally booked to stay on a yacht for 3 nights on the lake, but after a weather forecast of cold and rain, Marilynn got us switched to a hotel room. From there we will go to Deggendorf Germany to board a river boat for an 8 day trip down the Danube to Budapest. Expect details. |
